GinaMarie Russo Norcross, M.Ed, Ed. S is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern and Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern with the state of Florida. She is a three-time alumnus of the University of Florida, holding a bachelor’s degree in Special Education (2008), a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education (2009), and most recently a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling in 2020. Prior to becoming a counselor at Gainesville Community Counseling Center, Gina was an educator with over 15 years of experience working with diverse populations of children, their families, and the multiple systems that impact their lives. It was because of her experiences as an educator that she chose to change career paths and become a counselor.
Gina has worked with a variety of clients and families within diverse populations and settings. She has facilitated therapeutic kid’s camps, small therapeutic playgroups, group therapy, and individual therapy for children anywhere from 6 to 13 years old. She has also provided therapy for children, adults, couples, and families both in-person and utilizing telehealth. Gina is a collaborative, creative, strengths-based clinician. She utilizes Play Therapy, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, and expressive arts in her work. She also uses the Enneagram to help facilitate intra-personal awareness, self-acceptance, empathy, and connection.
In her spare time, Gina enjoys spending time with her family, crocheting, socializing with friends, and drinking butterbeer at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
